Forever is Forever (2009) interactive mixed media audio sculpture

I took two music boxes that play the song Theme from Love Story and ripped out half of the notes from each box. In doing so I made these small, simple machines that need each other to fulfill their original programming. The program itself is a circular cylindar, so the linearity of standard notation is tranformed into a constant return. However, each return creates a new musical relationship, one marked by the differing physical movements of gallery viewers who turn the music box keys. The musical duet fuses the gap between past, present and future two eternally desiring, mechanical subjects.
